More than a dozen cats were rescued from a truck in Manhattan on Saturday morning, police said.

Around 5 a.m., police received a report of multiple cats in a parked Chrysler Pacific in a Manhattan neighborhood.

The Emergency Services Unit attended the scene and were able to get into the vehicle. Police said a total of 21 cats were rescued from the vehicle.

Police believe the cats were left in the cold car overnight.

“The cats were very scared and shaking when we found them,” said a police officer. “They appeared to have been left for many hours.”

Police said all the cats were in good health.

The cats were taken to Animal Care and Control for further examination.

No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
