Therapy dogs have a special way of touching the lives of those they encounter. They bring joy, comfort, and friendship to people from all walks of life, whether it’s seniors, hospital patients, or schoolchildren. One particular therapy dog, Prince Bailey, a little Shih Tzu, made a lasting impact on the community and became an invaluable member of his community.
Prince Bailey, the loyal companion to recording artist Aydiee Vaughn, may have been small in size, but his heart was overflowing with love and compassion for everyone he met. For over 13 years, Prince Bailey brought brightness into the lives of countless people in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, and Burbank. His weekly visits to seniors’ homes, hospitals, hospice centers, assisted living facilities, libraries, and schools left an indelible mark on the hearts of those he interacted with.
Prince Bailey’s presence extended beyond the local community as well. He made appearances at COVID relief events and even attended the annual Paws 4 Kisses & Hugs event, which honored local LAFD firefighters and paid tribute to the memory of 9/11.
On June 5, 2023, Prince Bailey peacefully passed away at the ripe old age of 16. To commemorate his incredible life, Aydiee organized a special “red carpet” farewell celebration at the Hilton Woodland Hills Hotel. The event was adorned with a blue and teal theme, featuring angel wings and clouds as symbols of Prince Bailey’s transformative journey. Guests invited to the celebration were treated to a gourmet buffet, complete with delectable desserts, cocktails, and appetizers. Additionally, a dedicated Kiss & Cuddle Lounge, adorned with plush rugs and pillows, provided a serene space for guests to bid their final goodbyes to Prince Bailey.
The gala send-off for Prince Bailey included music and heartfelt testimonies from those whose lives were forever changed by his presence. A particularly touching moment came when the firefighters of LAFD Fire Station 105 made a surprise appearance. They arrived at the hotel in a fire engine to pay their final respects to the little dog who had left an indelible mark on their community.
Although Prince Bailey is no longer physically present, his spirit and legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of the many people who adored him and experienced his generous personality.
